Ranger of Cherokee Strip is a B Western film from 1949 produced by Republic, starring Steve Howard (Monte Hale), Sheriff Jack Mason (Paul Hurst) and Mary Bluebird (Alix Talton). Half-Cherokee Joe Bearclaws (Douglas Kennedy), is framed for murder and escapes from prison and sets off to the safety of the Cherokee Nation. Ranger Steve Howard pursues him, but Joe is already in the safe haven of the Cherokee Nation and spends time with Mary Bluebird who runs the school inside the Cherokee Strip. Steve attempts to return Joe to Kansas but, the Chief of the Cherokee played by (Monte Blue) and the Ranger agree to give him time to prove his innocence. While trying to prove his innocence he comes up against a gang led by Mark Sanders (Roy Barcroft). Joe receives help against the gang from an unexpected source, with his new friend they go out to find the gang and try to prove his innocence.
