Ratboy is 1986 drama about an unusual creature in the midst of a media storm. One day, the opportunistic Nikki Morrison (Sondra Locke, also the director) discovers a part-rat, part-boy creature named Eugene (S.L. Baird) living in a garbage dump. After winning his trust, she brings him into her home. Motivated more by financial success than true compassion, she first poses as a news reporter, but quickly decides the "Ratboy" could give her a career as a Hollywood promoter. Meanwhile, Eugene develops affection for Nikki as the only person to show him any kindness. Nikki meets with a variety of Hollywood types and hires Eugene an acting coach (Christopher Hewett). On the advice of a Hollywood producer, Nikki arranges a press conference to announce a TV show with "Ratboy" as the star, but Eugene runs away, preferring a life in the dump to the Hollywood scene. Nikki goes in search of the creature, hoping to show him real kindness.
