After Dr. Herbert West (Combs) brings his dead professor back to life while at the Zurich University Institute of Medicine, he is banned from the University due to the unforeseen horrific side effects of his experiment. West then takes up residency at Miskatonic University in New England and continues practicing his experiments in a rented basement. When he and his landlord/medical student Dan Cain (Abbott) decide to further test his investion, they sneak into the local morgue and reanimate a cadaver. The corpse then goes on a murderous rampage and kills anyone in his path. When the bloodthirsty corpse kills Dr. Halsey, the school's dean, West reanimates him as well. As the deaths and reanimation continue, West must find a way to stop the vicious zombies and perfect his invention. Re-Animator was very well received by critics and spawned many sequels.
