Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm is an upbeat musical comedy that is inspired by Kate Wiggins' novel. The adorable Rebecca Winstead (Shirley Temple) is a talented and loveable girl. Her stepfather Harry (William Demarest) is manipulative and scheming and has no interest in caring for little Rebecca. Therefore, he sends her off to live on a farm with her aunt Miranda (Helen Westley). Rebecca holds a gift of dance and does not fail to impress all who watch her. It is made clear that the family does not want Rebecca to be involved in any sort of show business. But that all changes when Tony (Randolph Scott) the neighbor notices her. Tony happens to be a talent scout and immediately takes interest in showcasing Rebecca's wonderful tap dancing talent. She becomes an overnight star but problems arise when Harry the stepfather, is back to claim her. What will happen to Rebecca?
