Rebel is directed by Michael Jenkins and released in 1986. Set in Australia during World War II, Rebel is the story of a disenchanted and wounded Marine, Rebel (Matt Dillon), who is plotting his escape from the military. During his recovery, Rebel seeks out Tiger (Bryan Brown), a black market entrepreneur and night club owner, who he hopes can secure him a discreet passage out of the country. While visiting the night club, the dissatisfied Marine becomes smitten with the sultry singer, Kathy (Debra Byrne), who frequently sings there. Soon, Rebel goes AWOL, but does not leave the country, he escapes the military to go and be with Kathy. With the Australian police and the United States military searching for him, Rebel's recklessness threatens Kathy's freedom and he must make a decision. Will Rebel turn himself in for the good of Kathy's well-being or will they try to steal away together under the cloak of darkness?
