Rebirth of Mothra is a 1996 Japanese monster film and the first in Toho's Mothra trilogy. Mothra has been Earth's valiant protector for millions of years. Once upon a time, her species thrived on Earth. The gigantic, powerful moths protected a race of tiny people called the Elias. Mothra's greatest challenge was a terrible three-headed dragon named Desghidora who tried to destroy the planet. The Elias suffered a massive loss of life, but Mothra and her fellow warriors trapped Desghidora beneath the Earth. Fast forward to present day. Mothra is the only surviving member of her species, and she's becoming weak with age. Her species will live on through her son, who hasn't yet hatched from the egg. But when a group of human loggers uncover Desghidora's subterranean prison, the aging and weak Mothra steps up for one more showdown with the villainous dragon. Rebirth of Mothra tells the story of one of the most popular monsters in film history, a powerful and benevolent moth who defends Earth from evil creatures.moreless
