Red Dragon is the 2002 adaptation of Thomas Harris' novel, coming 16 years after the previous adaptation which was called Manhunter and directed by Michael Mann (Heat). A vicious mass murderer that the law has dubbed 'The Tooth Fairy' is breaking into people's homes according to a lunar cycle and slaughtering whole families in their sleep. FBI Director Jack Crawford (Harvey Keitel , Reservoir Dogs) is desperate to stop the bloodshed and enlists retired profiler Will Graham (Edward Norton, Fight Club) to put himself in the mind of the vicious killer in order to catch him before the next full moon. To do this, he must defer to the insane expertise of the man he caught so many years ago ' the enigmatic psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins, Hearts in Atlantis).
