Red Lights

Movie Summary

Director:
Cedric Kahn
Released:
2004
Rating:
R
Red Lights is a somber 2004 drama which centers around the crumbling marriage of a Parisian couple who embark on a long road trip only to be thrown further off course in their journey. The film is based on a novel written by Georges Simenon. Cedric Kahn (L'Ennui, Roberto Succo) directs. Antoine (Jean-Pierre Darroussin) and his overpowering wife Helene (Carole Bouquet) hit the road and make their way down to Bordeaux to pick up their children from summer camp. But from minute one, things don't go so swimmingly - Antoine has been drinking, and Helen makes snide remarks referencing her suspicion of his infidelity while they sit in heavy traffic. The radio announces a deranged prison escapee is on the loose. Antoine and Helene continue to bicker as they drive, which only causes Antoine to drink more heavily. When he stops at a bar off the side of the road to imbibe in greater amounts, he tells his aggravated wife to wait in the car. But when he returns, Helene is missing and in her place is a mysterious stranger with a lurid past. Red Lights is a great French thriller which doesn't receive all the attention it deserves. A definite must see!moreless
