Red River Renegades is a 1946 Western film directed by Thomas Carr. The film opens with two postal inspectors traveling to town on a stagecoach, Dave Webster (Bruce Langley) is riding shotgun and Sunset Carson (Sunset Carson) is hidden within the coach. They are attacked by two bandits, both of whom are easily shot from within the stagecoach by Sunset. Sunset rides into town ahead of the coach after the altercation, presuming that the threat is neutralized. However, the coach is attacked by the Ballard Gang, and this time the driver and Dave Webster are killed. Sunset immediately decides to bring the Ballard Gang to justice. He is quickly joined by Pinkerton operative Julia Bennett (Peggy Stewart) and a seasoned postal inspector called Pop Underwood (Tom London). They soon uncover a conspiracy that has assisted the Ballard Gang in their highly successful robberies and evasion of the authorities. The screenplay for Red River Renegades was written by Norman S.
