Remember the Titans is a 2000 sports drama from producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Boaz Yakin that stars Denzel Washington, Will Patton, Wood Harris, Ryan Hurts, and Kate Bosworth in story inspired by real events about an interracial high school football team in Virginia, 1971, that must endure a race war to make it to the championship game. T.C. Williams High School has recently been desegregated, and both the students and staff are still unused to the new racial equality. Herman Boone (Washington) is an African-American who is hired by the school to take over the position of the football team's head coach, an appointment that is heavily frowned upon by many of the white players and school officials. As the tension between the races grows, Boone must teach his players not only to win football games, but to do it while overcoming the prejudice and malice that exists between them. Remember the Titans is an acclaimed film that tells a compelling tale of a talented football team playing against the backdrop of the American Civil Rights Movement.moreless
