Renegades of Sonora is an adventurous western film directed by R.G. Springsteen and released in 1948. Rocky Lane (Allan Lane) is a virtuous cowboy who happens upon the attempted robbery of a mail carrier (House Peters, Jr.) transporting a Native American tribal belt. Unable to save the life of the mortally wounded courier, Lane assumes responsibility for the cargo and delivers it unharmed. Soon, Lane is entangled in a complex conspiracy involving corrupt businessmen and politicians. Hoping to keep Lane out of their way, the conspirators murder one of their own henchman and frame the cowboy for it, sending him to prison to await his trial. To make matters even worse, the valuable tribal belt is now missing. Lane must fight to clear his name and win his release from prison. To do this, he must uncover many secrets about the mysterious belt and its purpose, and find a way to prove his innocence.
