Resident Evil is a science fiction horror film directed by Paul W.S. Anderson that is based on the video games series Resident Evil. When a thief destroys a vial on his way out of a top-secret underground facility known as the Hive, the high tech and highly logical AI security system, the Red Queen, immediately reacts to the infection " it seals the Hive and kills any potential carriers of the T virus. Its a failsafe put in place by the Umbrella Corp to stop any of its genetic research and the existence of the lab become known by the residents of Raccoon City. The extraction team, including commander James One Shade (Colin Salmon) and Rain (Michelle Rodriguez), finds only three survivors: security operatives Alice (Milla Jovovich) and Spence (James Purefoy) and the unknown Matt (Eric Mabius). Both Alice and Spence dont remember anything about their past while Matt is determined to find his sister Lisa (Heike Makatsch). As the team starts the journey to get to the Red Queens core to find the cause of the failsafe, they have to face the highly unstable and highly dangerous effect of the T-virus in the form of reanimated and flesh hungry zombies, freshly made by the shutdown.moreless
