Return to the Blue Lagoon is the 1991 sequel to The Blue Lagoon, a romance about two children marooned on a tropical island. In the original film the boy and girl grow up, fall in love and have a child of their own. The sequel opens with the crew of a passing ship spotting the castaway family adrift in a small boat. The parents are dead, but the two-year-old son survives. Now named Richard, he is adopted by a widow, Sarah Hargrave (Lisa Pelikan), who has a baby daughter of her own, Lilli. The new family ends up at sea again, but when cholera ravages the passengers and crew, the three board a lifeboat which carries them back to Richard's old island home. Sarah tries to keep the children civilized, but after a few years she dies of pneumonia. As pre-adolescents, Richard (Garette Ratliff Henson) and Lilli (Courtney Barilla) raise themselves and thrive on the bountiful island. As teens, the pair (now played by Brian Krause and Milla Jovovich) fall in love. However, the romance is soon disrupted by an arriving ship and a chance to return to civilization.moreless
