Takashi Yamazaki
Released:
2010
Rating:
R

Returner is a 2002 Japanese science fiction film starring Takeshi Kaneshiro as Miyamoto, a highly capable hit man on a quest for vengeance. Goro Kishitani is a mobster named Mizoguchi. Mizoguchi killed several children including a childhood friend of Miyamoto in order to sell their organs on the black market. While trying to kill the vicious criminal, Miyamoto accidentally shoots Milly (Anne Suzuki), a female soldier who has traveled from the future to save humanity. In her time, the year 2084, humanity is on the verge of losing a war against an alien race called the Daggra. Milly and Miyamoto form a tentative alliance, working together to track down Mizoguchi, who Milly suspects knows an important secret in the war against the aliens. This is Takashi Yamazaki's second film and draws from a wide variety of cinematic sources, most notably science fiction and film noir. Returner is an action-packed thrill ride about humanity's greatest threat and the unlikely heroes with the chance to save everyone.
