Reversal of Fortune is a 1990 drama based on one of the most controversial court cases from the 1980's in which a man was accused of subjecting his wife to a permanent coma. The film is based on a book called Reversal of Fortune: Inside the von Bulow Case, by Alan Dershowitz. Barbet Schroeder (Single White Female, Murder by Numbers, Mad Men) directs. Claus von Bulow (Jeremy Irons) and his wife Sunny (Glen Close) live a seemingly rich and happy life on the coast of California. But that all changes when Sunny mysteriously slips into a lasting coma due to an overdose of insulin. The lead suspect? Her husband Claus. The film narrates the proceedings of the case by centering around Claus's attorney, Alan Derhowtiz (Ron Silver), who is accompanied by a team of Harvard law school graduates. Sunny's life is also narrated through a series of flashbacks, which reveal she was possibly an unhappy woman with an addiction to alcohol. The performances by all the actors in this movie are amazing. Jeremy Irons received an Oscar for Best Actor.moreless
