PG-13
Rich in Love is a dramatic story of a southern family told through the eyes of a father whose wife has just left him. On an otherwise normal, uneventful, night, retired southerner Warren Odom (Albert Finney) returns home to find his wife has left him, leaving a note in her place. Wanting to see her father happy, Warren''s daughter Lucille (Kathryn Erbe) drops out of high school to care for her forlorn and depressed dad, who becomes the object of nearby woman Vera Dalmage's (Piper Laurie) affection. But Warren and Lucille's peculiar, newfound family dynamic is interrupted when young Lucille's pregnant older sister Rae (Suzy Amis), moves back into the family home with her husband Billy (Kyle MacLachlan), all painting a strange and unsettling picture of this well to do southern clan. Bruce Beresford directs this glimpse into southern life about a family that is as simple as it is insane.
