Rich Kids is a creative comedic drama about a young girl learning to deal with her parents' divorce. Paul (John Lithgow) and Madeline Philips' (Kathryn Walker) marriage is falling apart, but they are keeping the painful details of their breakup from their pee-teen daughter Franny (Trini Alvarado) in order to protect her from such crushing news. However, their astute young one is much more aware than either of them realize, noticing such details as her father's late nights out and her mother's independent research, so to speak. Coming to terms on her own about the split, Franny befriends Jamie (Jeremy Levy), a boy at school who had already been through his own parents' divorce. The two schoolmates become more close, and when they get together for a sleepover in Jamie's dad's lavish bachelor pad, both sets of parents suddenly take a break from their own troubles to help avert an apparent crisis. Legendary director Robert Altman directs this touching and poignant film with a remarkable performance from young Alvarado.moreless
