Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip is a 1982 concert film featuring acclaimed and often controversial comedian Richard Pryor performing one of his historic stand-up routines. Richard Pryor rose to success in the 1970s, earning a reputation for scathing social commentary and hilarious observational humor. His unique brand of comedy was characterized by his use of profanity and crude humor. Pryor believed no subject was off limits to comedians, a belief that shows in this hilarious performance as Pryor finds humor in a wide range of topics. This concert took place following Pryor's highly-publicized problems with drug abuse, which culminated in 1980 when he lit himself on fire while freebasing cocaine. Never one to back down from a joke, Pryor spends plenty of time talking about his own shortcomings in this show, as well as sharing his thoughts on familiar topics like race differences and sexuality. Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip is a classic stand-up performance by one of America's most-loved and revolutionary comedians.moreless
