Ride the Wild Surf is a 1964 film directed by Don Taylor. The action centers around three brave California surfers, Jody Wallis (Fabian), Steamer Lane (Tab Hunter) and Chase Colton (Peter Brown). They arrive at Hawaii's Oahu Island to ride the monster waves and participate in a famous surfing contest that draws competitors from all over the world. Steamer falls in love with Lily Kilua (Susan Hart) and is trying to overcome her mother's lack of sympathy to surfers and their wild lifestyle. Jody, an irresponsible college drop out, discovers his passion for Brie Matthews (Shelley Fabares), who makes efforts to convince him to go back to college. Chase finds himself desired by adventure loving girl, Augie Poole (Barbara Eden). Although romance on the beautiful beaches is a unforgettable and pleasant experience, when the time of the contest comes, the guys are all focused and motivated in their fight against the champion surfer challengers. They overcome disputes, injuries and romantic distractions, to prove themselves the most skillful big wave riders.moreless
