Riders of the Black Hills is a 1938 Western, the second in a series of thirteen movies about the Mesquiteers. The Mesquiteers are a group of cowboys, Stoney Brooke (Robert Livingston), Tucson Smith (Ray Corrigan), and Lullaby Joslin (Max Terhune) whose adventures on the Western frontier are legendary. In the Riders of the Black Hills the Mesquiteers are wrongfully arrested for the theft of a famous race horse named Black Knight. Mrs. Garth (Maude Eburne) vouches for the Mesquiteers so they are released from jail, but then stuttering Sheriff Brown (Roscoe Ates) convinces them to help him find the real horse-nappers. The Mesquiteers and the sheriff work together by putting the Mesquiteers' Black Knight look-alike horse undercover in the race posing as Black Knight. The sting operation works when the horse wins the race and the horse-nappers demand the winnings as ransom for the real Black Knight. Will the Musquiteers be able to nab the nappers and bring Black Knight home?moreless
