PG-13
Riding Giants is a 2004 sport documentary by director Stacy Peralta and starring surf giants Laird John Hamilton, Jeff Clark, Darrick Doerner, Dave Kalama, David H Kalama Jr., Brian L. Keauluna, and many, many more. In this look at the making of the surfing industry, viewers are taught a succinct history lesson about the much-loved water sport. From its humble beginnings on the shores of Hawaii to the big business that it is today, a three-dimensional view of surfing is presented. Even the rebellious surf culture of risk-taking and laid-back surfing-through-life attitudes that its stars often sport come into discussion during the film. The mythology of "the big wave" and the ultimate satisfaction and accomplishment that come with riding this pinnacle of all waves is discussed, and various surf legends give their own points of view on the matter. With stunning visuals of cool tricks, huge waves, and beautiful beaches, Riding Giants is a documentary that is not only enlightening, but also enjoyable for people with all levels of connection to the sport.moreless
