Rings On Her Fingers is a 1942 comedy directed by Rouben Mamoulian. In the film, Susan Miller (Gene Tierney) works at the local department store, but she has always dreamed of living the life of a wealthy woman. When con-artists, Maybelle Worthington (Spring Byington) and Warren (Laird Cregar) walk into her store and tell her about their plans to become rich and famous, she is ready to join their team. The three of them go to Palm Beach in search of millionaires they can scam. Susan runs into John Wheeler (Henry Fonda) who is looking to buy a boat and Susan believes he is a millionaire. John, however, is a clerk at the local store only making $65 a week and has been saving his money for years to buy a boat. The three of them scam John into buying a boat from them for $15,000, but the boat does not belong to them. The trio leaves the area and head to the next victim, Tod Fenwick (Shepperd Strudwick). The fun begins when they realize that John and Tod are friends and their scam is in jeopardy. Susan ends up with two marriage proposals, one man she loves and the other she is being blackmailed to marry.moreless
