Ripe is a 1997 drama that follows a pair of fraternal twins as they deal with pain, tragedy and the need to grow up too fast. Violet (Monica Keena) and her sister Rose (Daisy Eagan) are 15-year-old twins that are forced to live in an unstable home with an abusive father. When their parents are killed in a car accident, the girls consider the tragedy their ticket to freedom and they head off to Kentucky before anyone can tear the two apart. They end up in a small military town and befriend a boy named Pete (Gordon Currie). Pete is a civilian but works at the military base as a handyman. The three quickly become friends and move in together, although Pete has to tell people that the girls are his nieces so they do not get in trouble. At just 15 years old, the girls must deal with many adult issues and they must learn how to transition from childhood to adulthood all on their own.moreless
