Ripple Effect examines how random events impact and change the lives of everyone involved. Amer Atrash (Philippe Caland), a Lebanese immigrant, is very close to achieving the American Dream. He has a lucrative avant-garde clothing line and all the trappings of a successful entrepreneur. He notices that every accomplishment is tainted by setbacks and decides that bad karma is the cause. After his latest stumbling block, Amer finally confides in his wife, Sherry (Virginia Madsen), and tells her about a tragic car accident that happened years earlier and left another man, Phillip Blackman (Forest Whitaker), paralyzed from the waist down and confined to wheelchair. Sherry advises him to find Phillip and make amends. In his search to find Phillip, Amer meets Kitty (Minnie Driver), Phillip's wife, a singer at a bar. Kitty brings him to Phillip, who has led a very successful life and Phillip introduces Amer to a different way of thinking and behaving.
