Rising Son: The Legend of Skateboarder Christian Hosoi is a 2006 documentary about the rise, fall and rehabilitation of the famed athlete. Christian Hosoi took up skating at a young age, looking up to Dogtown legends like Stacy Peralta, Tony Alva and Jay Adams. At age 11, he scored his first sponsorship. At age 14, he turned pro. The inventor of the "Rocket Air" and "Christ Air," Hosoi reigned as one of the most successful vertical riders in the sport. But the skater's life took a hard turn in the 1990s, ending in bankruptcy, an addiction to drugs and eventually his arrest. Under the guidance of the Christian faith, Hosoi emerged from prison a healthier man eager to start a family, resume his skating career and share his newfound devotion with the world. Directed by Cesario Monta''o, the film explores Hosoi's incredible life through a wealth of rare footage and interviews with Hosoi's family and skateboarding icons.
