Robbery Under Arms is the 19th century tale adapted from the bestselling Australian bushranger novel by Rolf Bolderwood, considered one of the best colonial novels of Australia. Dick Marston tells how his notorious thefts alongside his brother Jim and Captain Starlight drove them into hiding and then later lead to their betrayal by one of their friends. Seeing no alternatives, Captain Starlight and their gang returned to plotting stagecoach robberies the likes of which would end them up rich or dead. Like the stories of the wild west, this plot follows the gun battles and narrow escapes of a group of men on the loose in the Australian goldfields with no identity and no chance for normal life. But for all the reckless abandon, it's the down home charm and engaging manner that makes the outlaws so intriguing. And the crisis of their pursuit and flight leads to a dramatic, surprise ending.
