Movie Summary

Sylvester Stallone

Rocky IV pitts the heroic Italian Stallion against a formidable Russian foe in the fight of his life. Rocky is at the peak of his career and his former opponent, and now good friend Apollo Creed, wants to recapture some glory as well, and to this end, sets up a match with new kid on the block Ivan Drago, a towering Russian behemoth with murder in his eyes. And murder is what results as the blond beast kills Apollo Creed dead in the ring, to the anguished Rocky's dismay. Rocky vows to get revenge for his good friend and commits to fight Drago on his own turf. Armed with Apollo's trainer Duke, Rocky gets into the shape of his life and takes on Ivan in a bone crushing match that defined the 80s.

The jingoism is blindingly awful, but by the time of the showdown, the film has descended into an unaware parody of itself.
