Romantic Comedy is a 1983 light comedy about a frustrated playwright, Jason Carmichael (Dudley Moore), who is at a stand still in his career. In need of inspiration, he meets Phoebe Craddock (Mary Steenburgen), a spunky English teacher who wants to write plays. They begin to work together. Though Jason is married to Allison (Janet Eilber), the two writers share a mutual attraction that is muted by the sound of typewriter keys. As they avoid the topic of sex, their writing partnership lasts for years. At first, success is sketchy, but eventually they succeed in producing hit plays as they awkwardly avoid sharing any intimate feelings for one another. Jason and Allison have a falling out and their marriage finally ends. Will the two writers take advantage of the situation, or will the writing duo call it quits for good? Find out in this feel good movie from director Authur Hiller.
