After the pair is secretly married by Friar Laurence (Milo O'Shea), Romeo kills Juliet's cousin Tybalt (Michael York) in a feud. The Prince of Verona (Robert Stephens) banishes Romeo from Verona as punishment. Juliet's father Lord Capulet (Paul Hardwick) arranges for her to marry the wealthy Count Paris (Roberto Bisacco).
