Ronald Reagan: An American Journey takes an in-depth look at one of the most influential and popular political figures of the last 30 years. President Reagan's time in office included some of the most significant events of modern American and world history. Those events included Iran-Contra, the Cold War, the Solidarity Movement, Pan Am 103 and the Challenger disaster. He was dubbed "The Great Communicator" due to the way with which he challenged, charmed and cajoled politicians and people. The film looks at the milestones in President Reagan's life including his early career as governor, his speeches and debates and his work with international leaders. The film also looks at his personal life and his relationship with his wife, Nancy. Several national and international events are showcased including the Iran hostage crisis, the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut and Reagan's appointment of Sandra Day O'Connor to the U.S. Supreme Court.
