Royal Wedding is a 1951 musical directed by Stanley Donen. Tom Brown (Fred Astaire) and his sister Ellen (Jane Powell) are sad when their Broadway act finally closes, but they soon learn that their agent has booked them to play at a royal wedding in England. Tom and Ellen sail away to England, leaving behind heartsick fans and suitors. On board the ship, handsome Lord John Brindale (Peter Lawford) is instantly attracted to Ellen. When Ellen discovers that they share a lot in common, the flirtatious pair begin a whirlwind romance. In England, Tom finds a love interest of his own when he meets Anne Ashmond (Sarah Churchill), a dancer auditioning for a part in his show. Although beautiful Anne is engaged to somebody else, Tom finds that he is infatuated with her. As Tom and Ellen begin to fall in love, they struggle against their feelings and try to concentrate on the show.
