Ruby Blue is a drama film that focuses on the struggle of a man trying to overcome tragedy. Jack (Bob Hoskins) is a widower who lives in a world of self-pity and guilt. His relationship with his only son has been strained since the death of his wife. But when eight-year-old Florrie (Jessica Stewart) moves in next door with her family, his luck seems to change. He becomes happier upon spending time with Florrie and his racing pigeon, Ruby. Meanwhile, Jack begins to spend time with another neighbor, a French woman named Stephanie (Josiane Balasko). Stephanie feels sorry for Jack and his lonely life, while Jack begins to fall for her. She even convinces him to help a local man by giving him his prized pigeon. However, when Stephanie reveals a shocking secret and tragedy strikes, all of the happiness that Jack has been feeling turns into sadness. Can Jack find the happiness he deserves with Stephanie?
