Running Free is a 1994 action/adventure film co-written by Steve Kroschel and Mary Beth Smith. It is directed by Steve Kroschel. Garrett (Jesse Montgomery Smythe), 12 year old boy has to travel with his recently divorced journalist mother (Jamie Lee Misfeldt) to remote Alaska. One day while out playing, he saves a young orphaned wolverine from drowning in a river. The two quickly develop a deep bond. Garrett gives the Wolverine the name One Paw because of a distinctive marking on one of its paws. Together the two go on all sorts of adventures. They fight a deadly grizzly bear, brave raging rivers, survive an avalanche and do battle with a crazed bush pilot bent on wolverine-poaching. Garrett knows that he will have to eventually return One Paw to the wild. The day finally comes when Garrett and his mother most return to civilization. Has One Paw become too domesticated to survive on his own?
