Movie Summary

Peter Hyams

Running Scared is the 1986 film starring Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal that chronicles two Chicago police officers as they decide to give up life in the force and go to Florida to open a bar. Before they do so however, they have one last arrest they must make. Ray Hughes (Hines) and Danny Costanzo (Crystal) are sent to Florida to take a break from the sloppy work they've done in attempting to arrest drug dealers Julio Gonzales (Jimmy Smits) and Snake (Joe Pantoliano). Ray and Danny decide that Gonzales will be their final arrest and then they will retire for good. The Captain then tells them that they must train their replacements, Anthony Montoya (Jon Gries) and Frank Sigliano (Steven Bauer) while they hunt for Gonzales. After capturing a shipment of drugs, Danny and Ray must face a vengeful Gonzales, who takes Danny's ex-wife captive. Directed by Peter Hyams, the film also stars Dan Hedaya, Tracy Reed, Larry Hankin, and Darlanne Fluegel.
