Running Wild, also known as Born Wild, is a 1992 film about a budding documentary filmmaker looking for her first important assignment in South Africa. Christine Shaye (Brooke Shields) goes to Zambia, South Africa, to get a good story for her struggling television station to turn things around. She meets with John Varty (himself), a South African documentary filmmaker, who has spent twelve years of his life filming a mother cheetah and her two cubs. Varty tells Christine that the mother cheetah was killed by a lion a long time ago, and the two cubs still needs maternal care and attention. After spending some time filming these little cubs, Christine is drawn to protect the cubs against their natural enemies and poachers. However, Christine and Varty's efforts to protect the cheetah cubs are at the odds against Africa's corrupt game officials and hunters. They must find a way to protect the cubs from the dangers of hunting and wildlife in Africa.moreless
