Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage is a 2010 documentary that tells the story of the veteran rock band, Rush. The Canadian rockers, made up of members Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart, have been making music for nearly 40 years. The documentary captures the band's journey through TV footage and home movies, giving the viewer a glimpse into the backgrounds of each musician and their inspiration for starting music. The confidence of the group has been tested over the years as the documentary shows how critical reviews in recent years of the band's albums have been less than positive. Despite the criticism, however, the viewer learns that Rush has been through much worse earlier in their career. Before making it big, the group would have to tour relentlessly just to make ends meet and met groups such as Kiss and Uriah Heep along the way. The humble and self-effacing nature of the group also shows that they have the strength to overcome such negativity. Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage was directed by Sam Dun and Scot McFayden.
