Sabah: A Love Story tells of the struggles of Sabah (Arsin''e Khanjian), a devout Muslim woman who falls in love with a carpenter who doesn't share her family's religion or heritage. Sabah has immigrated to Toronto, Canada, from Syria with her family. She is in her 40s and has never married, choosing instead to care for her aging mother. The family is headed by her brother Majid (Jeff Seymour) who is the family authority. His own marriage is rocky but he insists the family cling to its heritage and traditions. Sabah meets Stephen (Shawn Doyle) at the city swimming pool. The two are attracted to each other but because he is not of the Muslim faith, she hides the blossoming relationship from her close-knit, traditional family. The old world traditions collide with modern day romance but Sabah and Stephen work to meld their cultures into a happy, blended family.
