Everyday, Colonel Gil Manton and General Bob Hale (Richard Arlen) lead a squadron of F-86 Sabre Jets and F-80 Shooting Stars on combat missions while their wives gather anxiously at the airfield to see if they make it home. Carter, obsessed with being the best and notorious for doing whatever it takes to advance in her career, begins interviewing the pilot's wives with the same ruthlessness and persistence that had broken up her marriage.
