Safe Passage

Movie Summary

Director:
Robert Allan Ackerman
Released:
1994
Rating:
PG-13
Safe Passage is a heartwrenchingly intimate look at a family in turmoil, laying bare the most painful days of their lives. Safe Passage tells the story of Mag Singer (Susan Sarandon) a mother of seven sons overwhelmed by sadness as her children grow and leave home. Separated from her husband (Sam Shepard), Mag is slowly attempting to rebuild her life when she receives news that her son Percival (Matt Keesler) may have been killed in a terrorist attack. The devastated family must come together to await news on Percival, a U.S. Marine who is stationed on the Sinai Peninsula. Together for the first time in quite a while, the family struggles to hold themselves together as they wait for the news that will shatter them fully, or maybe heal the wounds that keep them apart. Safe Passage is a gritty, raw look at family life, almost painful to watch at times. Featuring standout performances from Sarandon and cast mates Robert Sean Leonard and Sam Shepard, Safe Passage is a highly watchable and enjoyable film.moreless
