Sahara, a 1943 film, stars Humphrey Bogart as a U.S. Army tank commander in Libya during World War II. After a skirmish with the Germans, Sergeant Joe Gunn (Humphrey Bogart) and his crew are separated from their unit. They pick up a ragtag group of other soldiers left behind after the battle, including a French officer, a British doctor, and a Sudanese sergeant with his Italian prisoner. The crew makes its way to an oasis in the middle of the desert where they hope to find water, only to learn that the well is running dry. Before they can leave, German scouts who are also searching for water discover them. In a desperate bid to outwit the German commander, Major von Falken (John Wengraf), Gunn tries to persuade the much larger German force to trade guns for water. In order to prevent an attack on his vulnerable crew, however, Gunn must keep the Germans from learning the truth about the well.moreless
