Sahara is an action adventure movie with some comedy thrown in for good measure. Dirk Pitt (Matthew McConaughey) and sidekick Al Giordino (Steve Zahn) set out hunting for a Civil War ironclad battleship called the Ship of Death on the River Niger. The battleship is rumored to hold a secret treasure. Along the way they encounter the lovely and intelligent Dr. Eva Rojas (Penelope Cruz), a scientist working for the World Health Organization investigating a mysterious illness killing thousands of West Africans. Dr. Rojas believes the disease is being caused by environmental pollution threatening to kill all living things in the ocean. Somehow the Ship of Death and its cargo may be connected to the contamination. As the trio marches through the Sahara looking for treasure they meet two evil enemies who threaten to ruin their expedition to find the treasure. Thankfully Pitt is an ex-Navy Seal and can battle those who threaten to ruin their desperate search. Can they find the treasure and save the world at the same time?moreless
