Sam Kinison: Why Did We Laugh is a documentary film directed by Larry Carroll. This film follows the life of Sam Kinison from his early upbringing and his days as a minister, through his career as a beloved and outspoken comedian, to his death in the arms of his brother and his best friend. Sam Kinison: Why Did We Laugh is a poignant biopic of the tortured soul behind the laughing face, and includes clips of Kinison's loud, raunchy performances, including never-before-seen footage of the comedian's last Texas performance. The documentary is punctuated with interviews with those who knew him best, including Judy Tenuta, Rodney Dangerfield, Dennis Miller, Jay Leno, Richard Pryor, and Sam's brother, Bill Kinison. Film-maker Larry Carroll documents Kinison's life with sensitivity as well as humor, and brings us a film that is both funny and moving. Sam Kinison: Why Did We Laugh was produced by Pacific Sundog Productions and Bill Kinison.
