Samurai Rebellion is an action-packed, black-and-white drama made by famous Japanese filmmaker Masaki Kobayashi in 1967. The story is set in feudalist Japan, during a period called the Edo period. The movie centers around a good man with excelled swordsman skills named Isaburo Sasahara (Toshiro Mifune). He and his family work as vassals for a lord called The Daimyo. One day, Isaburo's eldest son Yogoro (Go Kato) is arranged to be married with one of The Daimyo's previous mistresses, named Ichi (Yoko Tsukasa). Reluctantly, Yogoro marries Ichi, and to everyone's surprise, they fall in love and have a child named Tomi. Some time passes, and The Daimyo decides he wants his ex-concubine Ichi back, but Yogoro is no longer willing to give her up, and is Ichi not ready to abandon the life she has built with Yogoro. For the first time in his life, Isauro stands up to his lord The Daimyo and threatens that he will not hand Yogoro and Ichi over until his severed head is brought to him.
