Santa Claus: The Movie is a 1985 Christmas film directed by Jeannot Szwarc. In the 14th century, Santa Claus (David Huddleston) is a kindly woodcutter living with his wife, Anya (Judy Cornwell), and he loves to whittle toys for the children of a nearby village. When Santa Claus, Anya and their reindeer Donner and Blitzen are trapped in a raging blizzard one day, elves save them and fly them to the North Pole. The friendly elves that they meet there, including Dooley (John Barrard), Patch (Dudley Moore), Boog (Tim Stern), Honka (Peter O'Farrell) and Vout (Christopher Ryan), tell Santa that they have chosen him to make and deliver presents to children all over the world for eternity. In the present day, Santa is still hard at work, but Patch is unhappy and decides to leave the North Pole for New York City. He then starts working for B.Z (John Lithgow), a greedy toy manufacturer who wants to make Santa go out of business. Santa Claus: The Movie answers many of children's questions about Santa Claus, like how he fits through chimneys, in an endearing and entertaining way.moreless
