Santa Fe Passage is a classic Western movie of redemption. Kirby Randolph (John Payne) has been an outcast since the wagon train of settlers he was guiding was attacked by Indians and all the settlers killed. That reputation has kept him and his sidekick Sam Beekman (Slim Pickens) from getting any work until gunrunners Aurelie St. Clair (Faith Domergue) and Jess Griswold (Rod Cameron) hire them to get an ammunition shipment bound for Mexican rebels in Santa Fe through Indian territory. Aurelie balks at hiring Kirby and Sam but they prove their worth when Kirby saves them all from a wild horse stampede. Soon Kirby is falling for Aurelie, but he's faced with the obstacles of his rival for her affections, Jess, and the fact Aurelie is half Indian. Kirby has hated all Indians, particularly Chief Satank, since the wagon train of settlers was attacked. Jess attempts to bargain for safe passage of his goods with Satank, offering Kirby in exchange. But the chief is planning a double cross so that he can have both his enemy and the guns.
