Satin Rouge is the story of a widowed housewife who discovers a whole new life for herself with it's own troubles waiting around the corner. After her husband's death, Lilia (Hiam Abbass) finds her life to be completely centered around her teenaged daughter, Salma (Hend El Fahem). One evening, while searching for Salma at her belly dancing class, Lilia finds herself overwhelmed by the intoxicating music and energy of the dance. Though initially reluctant to embrace the possibility for herself, Lilia soon realizes the class may be an opportunity to escape the doldrums of her current existence. After joining, Lilia is swept up in the magic of dancing and flourishes with the encouragement of her fellow dancers. Love strikes in the form of one of the club's musicians and for a short time Lilia is awash with her newfound passions. However, it isn't long before Lilia discovers her lover has been romancing someone close to her. With romance and intrigue, Satin Rouge is a colorful tale of love, passion, and betrayal.moreless
