PG-13
School for Scoundrels is a 2006 dramatic comedy directed by Todd Philips. Roger (Jon Heder) is a socially awkward New York meter maid who suffers from low self-esteem. Roger is particularly awkward around women, never learning how to play the game, even though he dreams of asking his neighbor, Amanda (Jacinda Barrett), on a date. To overcome his issues, Roger enrolls in a confidence building class offered by over-the-top Dr. P (Billy Bob Thornton). Dr. P's methods are brutally unorthodox, as is his assistant, Lesher (Michael Clark Duncan). Dr. P and Lesher put Roger through his paces, but surprisingly, Roger excels in class, quickly working up the nerve to ask Amanda out. Dr. P, who has serious issues of his own, doesn't approve of Roger deviating from his crazy curriculum. He sets out to bring Roger to his knees in retaliation, insinuating himself into Roger's life at every turn, having him framed for a crime before getting him fired. But when Dr. P turns his attentions to Amanda, Roger relies on a former student of Dr. P's, Lonnie (Ben Stiller) for help. Can he possibly hope to beat the master at this game?moreless
