Search For The Battleship Bismarck is a history movie that reveals the story of the British forces fighting Germany's most valuable and powerful ship during World War II. They had been chasing the ship for weeks, not knowing exactly how to attack it, until on May 27th, 1941, they eventually managed to sink the ship and take the lives of the nearly 2,000 German soldiers who were on it. Now, almost fifty years later, the ship has been discovered by scientist Dr. Robert Ballard. The ship was discovered in the Atlantic, almost three miles deep into the ocean. This National Geographic program will recreate that final battle, talk to witnesses and those who survived. This way, you get a sense of the tension and the importance of the battle. Eventually sinking the ship helped lead to the Allies victory over the Germans in the war. The movie also gives the viewers a behind-the-scenes sneak peak at the wreckage of the Bismarck.moreless
