Second Best is a 2004 comedy film directed by Eric Weber. The film is centered around five college friends who are all nearing 50 years old. These five baby boomers graduated college together and after many years, they come together for a great reunion. The problem is, only one of the five men have done exceptionally well in life. Elliot (Joe Pantoliano) is a loser who has failed at becoming a successful published author. His attempt at success failed due to his lack of ambition and drive. When he returns home, he is ashamed and feels much like a lowlife. That is especially true when he reunites with his oldest friend who has become a successful film producer. This triggers a whole skew of emotions and feels none other than second best. Watch as these middle aged men struggle with jealously, disappointment, regret and hope. Second Best is a great comedy film that is sure to please the audience.
