Second to Die is a thriller film, directed by Brad Marlowe. In the film, Sara Morgan Bratchett Scucello (Erika Eleniak) is thrilled to escape poverty when she marries the wealthy Jim Bratchett (John Wesley Shipp). But the fairytale life that she expects turns out not to be her reality. Jim’s first wife commits suicide, leaving the couple with an invalid daughter, for whom Sara must become the full-time caretaker. She considers leaving Jim, despite all of his money, but when she discovers that he has a million dollar life insurance plan, she decides that murdering him will be the best way to get what she wants—freedom from her role as caretaker and the wealth that she married him to acquire. She seduces Jim’s friend, Raymond “Scooch” Scucello, and enlists his aid to get rid of her husband. After Jim’s murder, however, further complications arise. Jim’s life insurance policy was a â€œSecond to Die” policy in which Jim’s daughter is the sole beneficiary and will only receive the money once both Jim and Sara have died. Then Sara finds out that Scooch is not who she thinks he is. That is when things really go south for Sara. Second to Die is rated R for language and some sexuality.moreless
